The original Boggart

The Boggart is a kind of ogre or goblin from English myth and Druid religions. The Boggart is described as being human-like, but covered in hair like a bear, arms as long as small fishing poles, bandy legged, big and wide feet like a cross between a bear and a human, also have the withered face of a weathered old man. Also, their most striking feature is having only one nostril, or either no nose at all and instead just a large hole instead. Boggarts are said to be incredibly strong, equal in power to a small bull. But also, incredibly dumb and easily tricked. They are not evil creatures, nor cruel, but have honorable and friendly dispositions. Boggarts cling heartily to honor, oaths and respect more than anything else. But once their ire has been stirred, they become as horrible enemies as they could have been trustworthy and dependable friends.
No friend is more loyal and dependable than a boggart, but few enemies can be as determined, unbeatable and ruthless. Sometimes boggarts may couple with bears or badgers, and the offspring produced from these interspecies unions are called "Bugbears", who are half bear and either half boggart, or half goblin.

Sometimes a boggart may be allowed to live inside a home with humans, and then it is called a "Hobgoblin" (house goblin), 'hobbit' (house little-creature), or 'house goblin'.
